The Green Smoothie Challenge
is free project dedicated to your health, vitality and self-empowerment. It was initiated by Anand Wells, a living food educator, who through his work met so many people
suffering needlessly chronic and degenerative diseases (obesity, cancer,
heart disease, the list goes on) that he was compelled to make this information freely available to
everyone. These conditions are almost entirely preventable "lifestyle" diseases which are almost entirely due to poor dietary choices and lack of
education.
All the Green Smoothie Challenge involves is learning how to make a simple drink, a green smoothie
and drinking one a day for a minimum 2 weeks to see what happens. That's it in
a nutshell! No need for any huge dietary changes, expensive meal replacements
or supplements, just fresh organic fruit, leafy greens, water and a blender.
The next official Green Smoothie Challenge will run from Sunday September 7th until Saturday September 20th.
What is a Green Smoothie?
A green smoothie is a blended drink comprising of approximately 40% (on weight) fresh dark leafy green vegetables, 60% fresh fruit plus water. It was pioneered by health and nutrition educator Victoria Boutenko who is the author of several books including "Green For Life" a beautifully simple book on how to create health with green smoothies.
In
search of the perfect human diet, Victoria Boutenko compares the standard
American diet with the diet of wild chimpanzees. Chimpanzees share an
estimated 99.4% of genes with humans, but their diet is dramatically
different from ours. The most glaring difference is that chimpanzees
consume significantly more green leaves than humans. Based on these
observations, Victoria has developed a series of green smoothie recipes
that enable anyone to consume the necessary amount of greens in a palatable
way.
Victoria
introduces the idea of blending, rather than juicing, as being the superior
way to ingest greens, for the very necessary insoluble fibre, which
is essential for healing and maintenance of our elimination systems.
Also documented is a study in which a group of regular people drink
a one quart green smoothie every day for a month, in addition to their
regular diet.
One
pound of certain greens can give you your RDA of all nine essential
amino acids, not to mention an abundance of vitamins and minerals.

An inspirational website is being created - 1,000 stories of recovery
told by people who have eaten predominantly raw foods and had a
significant improvement or total recovery from a physical or
emotional condition. The aims of the website are to provide
inspiration and hope for people in recovery, provide an opportunity
